The cab concept of the Econic brings you close to the road: thanks to your low seating position and the panoramic glazing, you can drive the Econic with foresight. For this purpose, you have a host of safety assistants on board: Cameras, sensors and additional lighting systems can help you to maintain an overview in critical situations: in busy city traffic, when turning, manoeuvring and reversing, or when there is a traffic jam behind the bend.

The safety assistance systems of the Econic.
A comprehensive package of safety assistance systems can help you to maintain an overview in critical situations.
The blind spot camera system1,3 shows you images of the vehicle’s surroundings on an ergonomically positioned monitor, which helps you when reversing, manoeuvring and turning.
Sideguard Assist 21 supports you when changing lanes or turning and can warn you of dangers. For this purpose, the system monitors the entire driver's side and front passenger side with radar sensors.
Adaptive cruise control1,3 enables the distance to the vehicle in front to be monitored and your speed to be automatically adjusted.
The Econic’s Attention Assist1 analyses your driving behaviour and can alert you with an acoustic signal and a visual display if it detects signs of decreasing alertness. This means you can take a break in good time, especially on long journeys.
Front Guard Assist1 monitors the traffic area directly in front of your Econic and supports you at speeds of up to 15 km/h. If the system with camera and radar sensor detects objects moving in the immediate vicinity of your vehicle, it can warn you with a two-stage hazard warning. In this way, the system can help you to avoid serious accidents.
The reversing camera1 of your Econic supports you when manoeuvring or reversing. It is activated automatically when you engage reverse gear. In the cab, you can see in real time on the rotating and swivelling monitor whether there are people or obstacles behind your truck.
Active Brake Assist 61.2 can detect potential collisions and support you at speeds up to 60 km/h by initiating automated emergency braking if, for example, it detects pedestrians and cyclists in dangerous proximity. The system is based on camera technology as well as additional radar sensors on the headlamps and sides, and can warn you of danger with a three-stage warning.
Lane Keeping Assist1 can alert you if you unintentionally leave your lane.

2 Within the system limits or within physical limits, the system can react to stationary and moving objects or moving pedestrians with partial braking or emergency full-stop braking. In these traffic situations, the driver still remains fully responsible for driving the vehicle safely.
3 Special equipment.
DirectVision
At eye level.
Thanks to the low seating position and floor-to-ceiling glazed folding doors, you are at eye level with the traffic. According to a study, this “DirectVision”, i.e. the direct view of the traffic, leads to a reduction of the driver’s reaction time by an average of 0.7 seconds compared to indirect vision. This reduces the stopping distance compared to indirect vision, resulting in significantly fewer collisions with pedestrians in simulations.1

With the standard BlueTec 6 diesel engine and innovative catalytic converter technology, you reduce emissions of particulate matter and nitrogen oxides. The efficient engines provide high torque even at low engine speeds. On the road, the Allison 6-speed automatic transmission takes the strain off you with its intuitive shifting logic, which works wear-free and allows you to pull away with precision. The transmission is weight-reduced and has 12 forward and 4 reverse gears. This means you get full performance in urban traffic and are economically well positioned.
