Arrive safely – with the support of innovative assistance systems to improve driving safety which actively relieve the strain on the driver and treat the vehicle and the load with sufficient care, thereby contributing to higher efficiency. On every journey.
Safety is at the root of our DNA.
Mercedes-Benz employs many safety and assistance systems to reduce risks and ease the burden on the driver.
Alongside the Electronic Braking System with ABS, ASR, Brake Assist, hill holder and Active Brake Assist, the Stability Control Assist system, Lane Keeping Assist and Attention Assist also contribute to the high level of safety. Systems such as the bi-xenon headlamps1, the rain/light sensor1, the co-driver mirror with a manoeuvring function1, Active Brake Assist 41 and tyre pressure monitoring1 help the driver to avoid or mitigate accidents.

Active Brake Assist 4200.
Fitted as a statutory requirement and operating within the system limits, Active Brake Assist can detect obstacles driving ahead of the vehicle, warn the driver of dangers identified and, if necessary, initiate full brake application to mitigate the severity of a possible accident and its consequences.
Sideguard Assist207, 209, 210.
This optionally available system can assist the driver during cornering or lane-changing by detecting moving and stationary objects in the warning zone on the right or in the tracking pattern in certain situations201, 211 and providing visual and audible warnings for the driver.
Further assistance systems.
Proximity Control Assist1012.
This assistance system with stop-and-go function is on hand to help the driver to maintain speeds and distances to vehicles ahead and can reduce the risk of rear-end collisions.
Sensor-controlled fifth-wheel coupling.
The sensor-controlled fifth-wheel coupling1 notifies the driver via a display in the instrument cluster whether the fifth-wheel coupling is open or closed. This increases safety and saves on repair costs.
