With the Arocs up to 500 t, you can also move really heavy loads to your destination – whether forwards, backwards, uphill or downhill. With smart technology, high comfort and easy operation.

Sensitive manoeuvring.

Thanks to the turbo retarder clutch, you can manoeuvre with impressive precision. It protects the load with almost jerk-free transport and finely metered braking characteristics – and supports you in being able to manoeuvre with precision.

If your assignments should last longer than one day, you can also choose from two spacious options with the StreamSpace and BigSpace cab variants.

Your Arocs up to 500 t is equipped with powerful and reliable technology so that you can get heavy loads to their destination in comfort: With Euro VI-engines, PowerShift Advanced automated gearshift and turbo retarder clutch, the Arocs up to 500 t will not let you down even on extreme trips. With its highly resilient drive, it delivers the performance required in heavy-duty transport even at maximum load. To achieve this, your truck is equipped with a particularly robust chassis, suspension and frame design.

The turbo retarder clutch

Manoeuvre sensitively and to the millimetre.

Almost wear-free moving off, almost jerk-free transport and finely metred braking characteristics: the turbo retarder clutch protects the load and makes manoeuvring comfortable. At walking pace, the primary retarder provides continuous brake operation with high braking power.

You can manoeuvre particularly precisely when carrying out manoeuvres that require driving in the opposite direction to the engaged gear: this allows you to reverse with millimetre precision while a forward gear is engaged without applying the service brake. You control how fast you roll with the accelerator pedal.

The reverse is also true: if you drive forwards with a multi-vehicle combination in reverse gear when driving downhill, for example, the vehicle behind the trailer can brake and keep the entire combination stretched out. Here, too, you brake using the accelerator pedal without having to use the service brake.

Side panelling with cooling air inlets

Inlets in the side panelling ensure a very good supply of cooling air – so that your truck doesn’t break a sweat even during heavy-duty use.

Heavy-duty coupling, front

Pushing instead of pulling? No problem: a register coupling is installed in the reinforced front trailer bracket. As an option, a Rockinger heavy-duty coupling can be fitted, which is approved for a gross train weight of 500 t when driving slowly.

Headlamps with light signature

Long-lasting LED headlights or halogen headlights – the choice is yours. Both variants provide good illumination and impress with a striking light signature on the road. You also have the option of ordering work lights that light up to the rear, front and sides to give you a clear view when loading heavy goods.

Air-sprung rear axles

Choose the suspension that suits you: the four-bellows air suspension ensures more comfort and better road holding – even on demanding routes. With the air suspension, you can move up to 13.4 t on the rear axle. Steel suspension on the rear axle is the right choice for higher payloads. It can carry loads of up to 16 t and absorb up to 18 t.

Compressed-air tank

Your truck will use very little compressed air when carrying out finicky manoeuvres, even on uphill or downhill gradients. The turbo retarder clutch operates permanently, temperature-stable and almost completely wear-free. This allows you to move the truck forwards and backwards hydraulically or to stop the truck even with very heavy loads. The advantage for you: In these kinds of demanding driving situations, you'll rarely have to use the service brake.

Heavy-duty coupling, rear

Pulls almost everything you attach: The RO56 heavy-duty trailer coupling is designed for you to get your tractor/trailer combination to its destination at low speed with a gross vehicle weight of up to 500 t. The RO58 trailer coupling can be used as an option to achieve a towing capacity of up to 1,000 t.

Rear cooling system

Even when operating at maximum capacity, your Arocs up to 500 t never loses its cool: two coolers keep your truck’s cooling system thermally stable over longer distances and with heavy loads. Your diesel fuel is also kept in the efficient temperature range by the additionally installed fuel cooler. This means that the performance of your engine remains constant and your fuel consumption can be reduced.

Fifth-wheel coupling and sliding device

With the heavy-duty sliding device, you can adjust the fifth-wheel coupling position to suit different axle load distributions.

On the construction site and on the way there: Innovative assistance systems keep you safe on the road. This allows you to detect dangers at an early stage, brake in good time and keep an overview of the traffic situation.

Anticipatory driving style: the latest version of Active Brake Assist can now detect obstacles and critical situations even better and then react with appropriate measures – from clear warning signals to automatic full-stop braking.

Safety on both sides as standard: the latest generation of Active Sideguard Assist provides even better support when changing lanes, overtaking and turning in complex situations.

Keeping an eye on everything: Front Guard Assist monitors the area in front of the vehicle and supports the driver with warning signals in the event of possible hazards – for starting off, manoeuvring and turning more safely.

Reversing camera system

Maintain a safe distance: Proximity Control Assist can monitor the distance to the vehicle in front and automatically adjust your speed. Additionally, Predictive Powertrain Control can proactively regulate the distance as needed to take advantage of momentum phases without dropping below the safe distance.
