Mercedes‑Benz has accompanied Actros for more than 25 years with a whole range of special editions. In 2008, for example, the Trust Edition was launched across Europe with just 500 copies.
An expression of trust.
IAA International Motor Show 2008: Mercedes‑Benz presents its brand promise “Trucks you can trust” for the first time and highlights it with a vehicle that immediately becomes a crowd puller: the Actros Trust Edition.
“We’ve done a lot in 15 years of building prototypes, but the Trust Edition was probably our biggest project.”
Historical design references meet state‑of‑the‑art technology in this eye‑catcher – as an expression of the value and sustainability of the trucks with the star. The colour scheme reflects the typical spectrum of commercial vehicles from the time of economic boom. Chrome parts, high‑quality details and elegant materials make modern quality tangible.
The Trust Edition was created on behalf of Mercedes‑Benz Trucks at Proceda in Weissach. “We’ve already done a lot in 15 years of building prototypes, but the Trust Edition was probably our biggest project,” says Jörg Rudolf, who as team leader was responsible for the Trust Edition at Proceda. And it was worth it: Classic truck green meets silk matt black skirting and an oxblood red chassis with matching decorative stripes. The rims of the front axle and rear axle are painted matt black, while the hubs are oxblood red. The chrome package on the decorative grille creates a contemporary accent.
The roof light holder and aerodynamic side panels are tailor‑made for this model. Absolutely unique: the leather cover for the fifth‑wheel coupling. As early as 2008, the Trust Edition brought a camera into the cab – a front camera replaced the front mirror. Last but not least: The truck proudly bears its name in chrome‑plated letters on the front panel and on the sides.
“Everything about it is typical for Mercedes: it’s just a strong piece of workmanship.”
Dark red leather on the steering wheel, door mirrors, shelves and seats impresses when getting aboard. “We had looked for the top quality of this classic shade for a long time,” says Proceda upholsterer Stefan Jörg. He used a special sewing machine to create the striking honeycomb pattern. No less unusual: the Trust Edition carpet on the engine tunnel and the floor mats. The bed features an Alcantara cover, which is also decorated with a honeycomb pattern.
Jörg Rudolf is proud of this extraordinary vehicle from his workshop: “Everything about it is typical for Mercedes: it’s just a strong piece of workmanship.”
