Arrive safely – with the support of innovative assistance systems to improve driving safety, which actively help to support the driver and treat the vehicle and the load with care, thereby contributing to efficiency. On every journey.
Safety is at the root of our DNA.
Trucks that are very safe are not just an important development for all road users. They are also more efficient, because they are less often put out of action by accidents and they help to relieve the driver’s workload. This is why we have been focusing for over 45 years now on developing innovative safety assistance systems.
With the new optional MirrorCam system, enhanced Active Brake Assist 51, and the electronic parking brake with HOLD function, we are continuing this pioneering work – and putting assistance systems on the road that offer the driver additional support – all in the interests of getting to the truck’s destination safely and efficiently every time.
Advantages at a glance.
- Innovative assistance systems for even greater safety, efficiency and high ride comfort
- MirrorCam1 for improved visibility and even greater safety
- Additional safety with automatic main/dipped beam and cornering light1, LED tail lamps1
MirrorCam1.
In place of the conventional rear-view mirror, the new Arocs can be fitted with the innovative, aerodynamically sophisticated MirrorCam in conjunction with the Multimedia Cockpit or the Multimedia Cockpit, interactive.
This helps to save fuel and offers improved visibility to the rear and in the area of the A-pillar. The MirrorCam also provides for added safety during manoeuvring, turning and lane changing, for example by panning5 the camera image according to the vehicle’s movements.
The camera system comprises two high-resolution fold-up cameras that are mounted on the upper roof frame. The camera images are sent to two 15.2" (38.6 cm) colour screens near the A pillar. To aid the driver in assessing the traffic behind him/her, the respective screen shows tracking and distance indicator lines as soon as he/she switches on the indicator at a speed greater than 30 kilometres per hour. Warnings alerting the driver to excessively tight turning angles add yet more assistance during manoeuvring.
As an alternative to the new MirrorCam, a classic mirror system is also available.
Active Brake Assist 51.
The fifth generation of the system assists the driver2,3 by carrying out full brake application in response to stationary and moving objects in certain conditions, in addition to which it is also able to perform partial or maximum full-stop braking in response to moving or halted pedestrians, thereby reducing the severity of accidents or helping to avoid accidents altogether.

Proximity Control Assist6
Proximity Control Assist6 maintains the set desired speed similarly to the manner in which conventional cruise control works on free stretches of road. It is effective from a speed of 0 km/h. When the Arocs approaches a vehicle ahead, the speed is adapted automatically according to the distance set by the driver. The distance is set on the multi-function steering wheel. Proximity Control Assist’s stop-and-go function slows down the Arocs automatically, to a standstill, in stop-and-go traffic.
Further assistance systems.
Lane Keeping Assist.
Lane Keeping Assist becomes active automatically at a speed of 60 km/h or more, and warns the driver as soon as the vehicle begins to leave the driving lane unintentionally.
In the case of intentional lane changes, initiated by indicating or by braking, the Lane Keeping Assist warning won’t be activated.
The lane marking detection system employs a camera installed behind the windscreen, which checks the distance between the sides of the vehicle, and the lane markings. The camera is able to distinguish between continuous and broken lane markings.
Camera integration.
This optionally available ex factory pre-installation enables the swift and simple installation of up to four analogue cameras. For improved safety – for example during manoeuvring.
Parking brake, electronic.
The electronic parking brake combines simple handling, driving comfort and safety. It is automatically activated when the engine is turned off – but can also be turned on and off by operating the lever in the cockpit. To ensure an even greater level of safety, the electronic parking brake is also automatically activated in the event of the door being opened when the engine is running and the speed is 0 km/h.
The integrated HOLD function is activated when the vehicle is at a standstill simply by pressing the brake pedal firmly, for example at a red traffic light or on an uphill gradient. It is released as soon as the accelerator is pressed again. This assists in avoiding the danger of the vehicle rolling back when taking off on an uphill gradient.
Intelligent light.
This optional new headlamp system contributes to added safety through improved illumination of the highway. In addition to the LED daytime running lamps, it also comprises automatic high/low beam, an automatic cornering light and a front fog lamp.
When turning off, the fog lamp on the inside of the bend is activated automatically according to the steering movement and vehicle speed, thereby illuminating the curve area effectively. Automatic activation and deactivation of high beam additionally enhances driving comfort and driving safety.
LED tail lamps.
The optional LED tail lamps also make a contribution towards improved safety thanks to their robust, specially designed LEDs, whilst also helping reduce maintenance and repair costs.
As well as indicators, brake lamps and reversing lamps, this equipment also features rear position lights and licence plate lamps, rear foglamps, as well as perimeter/side-marker lamps.
Bi-xenon headlamps1.
Both the dipped and, especially, the main beam headlights benefit from the high light output of the optional bi-xenon lamps, which also use less energy than the standard headlights.
